atalog Browser Demo A common problem in displaying catalogs on-line is that very often too much time is required to load a catalog, especially if the catalog features graphic images of catalog items. This Catalog Browser demonstration implements a navigable catalog that displays graphic images of catalog items, yet the applet quickly and efficiently loads each catalog page. Another notable feature of the Catalog Browser is that it provides the user with easy access to detailed information for each catalog item. Two different versions of the Catalog Browser demonstration have been provided: a standard version, and an enhanced version. The enhanced version is a bit more sophisticated in its visual effects than the standard version, but the added visual "flash" can really test the Java Virtual Machine. The enhanced version should run fine on Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 or better, or on Netscape Navigator 4.0 or better, but earlier or less capable browsers might not provide an acceptable level of performance.
